* Carlo Montarsolo (1922-2005) was born in Marmore (Terni) and grew up in Portici (Naples).
He started painting at the age of 16, inspired by the surrounding nature, Vesuvius and the Mediterranean Sea.
During the 1960s, he brought his experience of analytical cubism to Naples.
The artist's purely original use of painting mediums and special attention to light made him one of the most recognized artists working in the abstract style of post-war Italy.
He was never interested in creating a specific style, the artist was more inclined to expressive synthesis, which expressed his flexible and versatile personality.
He was always open to innovation, but at the same time he was loyal to tradition.
During his painting career, Montarsolo participated in numerous prestigious exhibitions and won many awards, which created an opportunity for the artist to represent Italy in Melbourne, Sydney and New York.
The artist's works can be seen in prestigious museums in Italy and outside Italy, in the Collezione Farnesina collection of Italian art of the 20th century, etc.
During his long career, he also stood out as a supporter of art. Since 1975, Carlo Montarsolo has been frequently invited to lecture at art institutes in Italy, as well as to participate in contemporary art conferences and seminars in North and South America and Europe.
After the artist's death, the honor of presenting his art was given to his son, Federico Romanelli Montarsolo, who, organizing his father's exhibitions in Italy and abroad, continues to present Italian art to the public.
