In 1951

– was conscripted into the Soviet army.

In 1955

- left for Leningrad.

1957-1964

- studied at the Leningrad Academy of Fine Arts, Yu.

1965-1967

- taught painting at N2 school in Leninakan.

In 1967

- taught by M. Leninakan.

Nalbandian State Pedagogical Institute.

He started participating in national and international group exhibitions.

In 1968

- taught at Leninakan boarding school.

Lived in Yerevan since 1969.

The creative search for modern forms led the artist to geometric abstraction.

In 1970

Member of the Union of Artists of Armenia.

In 1976

- led to the interpretation of new free forms, began to work on large canvases "Blessing", "Love", "Struggle".

- participated in the exhibition "Works of 50 Artists of Soviet Armenia" (Paris).

- participated in the exhibition of contemporary Armenian artists, which was organized by the Galust Gulbenkyan Foundation (Lisbon).

- created a series of portraits.

"Portrait of my mother", "Portrait of my father", "Portrait of Minas", "Portrait of Arshil Gorky", "Portrait of my daughter", "Self-portrait", "Hayuhi".

In 1982

- participated in the "Armenian painting and graphics" exhibition (Budapest).

1984 - participated in the exhibition "Art of Soviet Armenians" (Berlin).

In 1990

- received the title of Honored Artist of Armenia.

In 1992

- participated in a private collection exhibition (London).

In 1995

- participated in the exhibition in Bochum (Germany).

In 1996

- In the exhibition-competition dedicated to the World Congress, organized by the United Nations Development Program, the picture "Disaster" was awarded the first class prize.

In 1997

- died in Yerevan.

In 2007

- the album "Ashot Hovhannisyan" was published (Henrik Igityan, "Tigran Mets" publishing house, Yerevan).

The works are in the Museum of Modern Art (Yerevan), the National Gallery of Armenia, and many private collections in Armenia and abroad.
