+Vazgen Bazhbeuk-Melikyan (1941-2004) In 1941 - was born in Tbilisi. In 1957 started learning painting from his father, Alexander Bazhbeuk-Melikyan. 1968-1973 - studied at the Moscow State Textile Institute. In 1974 - received the gold medal of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR for his diploma work. In 1975 - the artist's works were exhibited at the exhibition "Self-Portrait in Russian and Soviet Art", Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow). In 1976 permanent participant of all-Union and international competitions. In 1977 - moved to Yerevan. Member of the Union of Artists since 1982. In 1985 - participated in a major exhibition of contemporary Armenian art (Museum of Contemporary Art, Yerevan). 1997 - Participant of the exhibition "The Museum of Contemporary Art on the Threshold of the XXI Century" (Union of Artists, Yerevan). 2000 - solo exhibition at the Union of Artists of Armenia (Yerevan). Individual exhibition within the international biennial organized with the participation of 20 countries (Gyumri, Armenia). In 2004 - died in Yerevan. The artist's works are in the National Gallery of Armenia, Museum of Modern Art (Yerevan), S. in the Parajanov Museum (Yerevan), in private collections of the USA, Germany, Poland, Cyprus, Turkey and other countries of the world.
