- was born in Aleppo (Syria).

In 1919

- moved to Cairo (Egypt), where he started attending the Galustian Gymnasium.

In 1924

- settled in Paris.

In 1930

– graduated from the state school of architecture, simultaneously attending the Academy of Grand Chaumier.

He received the first class prize at the exhibition of French painters.

Since 1930, the works have been constantly exhibited in the "Hall of Independents", the "Ani" company and the "Union of Armenian Independent Artists".

Since 1939, Garzu has held more than 100 individual exhibitions.

Since 1941, exhibitions in the "Autumn Hall".

Since 1945, permanent exhibitions in the "Druan Davit" gallery.

In 1945

- received the Île-de-France I prize.

In 1955

- awarded with the Grand Prize (Tokyo).

In 1956

- the artist was awarded the Legion of Honor.

In 1958

- received the title of "Knight of Art and Literature".

1950-60s.

- He was the stage designer of Comédie Française, La Scala, National Theater of Paris.

Since 1977, he was a full member of the French Academy of Artists.

In 1980

- was awarded the "Martyros Saryan" order.

In 1984

- individual exhibitions were held in Yerevan and Moscow.

2000

- died in Paris.

In 2007

- solo exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of his birth, National Gallery of Armenia (Yerevan).

A large number of articles and monographs have been published about the artist.

The works are located in the Museum of Modern Art (Yerevan), in many private galleries and collections of different countries.
