Hovsep Karalyan

Hovsep Karalyan (1897-1981) In 1897

- was born in Tiflis.

1914-1916

- studied at the school of fine arts and sculpture attached to the Caucasian Society for the Promotion of Fine Arts (Tbilisi).

In 1917

- started participating in exhibitions.

1922-1926

- taught in secondary educational institutions of Tiflis.

In 1927

- moved to Moscow, taught in the art studio of the Academy of Arts of Armenia in Moscow.

In 1935

- Performed by G. at the Armenian State Studio in Moscow.

The stage design of Sundukyan's play "Demolished Hearth" (dir.: R.

1936-1940

- studied at Moscow All-Union Art and Technical Institute, A.

Favorsky and Ya.

Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR since 1942.

In 1947

- moved to Baku.

1948-1953

- taught painting at the art school transferred from Ashgabat to Baku.

In 1953

- moved to Yerevan.

He started participating in republican, union and international exhibitions.

He was engaged in the design of stained glass windows of the National Museum of Armenia (R.

with Shahverdyan).

Honored artist of Armenia since 1967.

In 1977

- He was awarded an honorary degree by the Presidency of the Supreme Council of the ASSR on the occasion of his 80th birthday.

In 1981

- died on April 24.

During his creative life, he was engaged in the design of posters and books.
